IELTS Preparation Curriculum

Each recording plays once, so preparation focuses on using the question preview time effectively. You learn to predict the answer type before listening recognize distractors follow changes between speakers and stay focused when information moves quickly. Sessions also cover spelling accuracy and word limits helping you avoid losing marks through avoidable answer errors.

The test runs for approximately 11 to 14 minutes across three parts each requiring a different type of response. Part 1 trains natural answers to familiar questions. Part 2 develops the ability to speak continuously for up to two minutes from a prompt card. Part 3 practices discussion and abstract reasoning. Jahanzaib provides individual feedback on fluency and coherence lexical resource grammatical range and accuracy and pronunciation.

You have 60 minutes for two tasks. A perfect approach is to spend around 20 minutes on Task which is based on 1 and 40 minutes on Task 2 because Task 2 is worth more. In Academic Task 1 asks you to describe a graph, chart, diagram or map. In General Training, you write a letter. Task 2 is an essay for both. After you submit your writing, teacher reads it and tells you exactly what to fix your answer your structure your vocabulary and your grammar.

The test has 40 questions and 60 minutes across three sections. Preparation includes practicing time distribution so you can maintain accuracy throughout the test. The question type work covers True/False/Not Given Yes/No/Not Given matching headings and sentence completion. You practice locating evidence rather than relying on keywords alone handling unfamiliar vocabulary through context and moving efficiently when a question takes longer than expected.

Both tests have identical Listening and Speaking sections. The difference is in Reading and Writing. Academic Reading uses complex analytical texts. General Training Reading includes practical everyday material. For Writing Task 1, Academic candidates describe a graph, chart, diagram or map. General Training candidates write a letter formal, semi formal or informal depending on the prompt. Task 2 is an essay for both. Choose Academic for university or professional registration. Choose General Training for work visas or migration.

It depends on the gap between your current English level and your target band. Someone already close to their target may need four to six weeks of focused preparation. Someone working toward a significant improvement may need longer. The preparation time also depends on which modules need the most work. A diagnostic assessment at the start of preparation helps identify this clearly rather than guessing how long you need.

Requirements vary by route and change over time, so always verify directly with the relevant authority or institution. As a general guide: UK Skilled Worker Visa typically requires a minimum band of 6.0 in each section. Canadian Express Entry immigration uses a CLB conversion of your IELTS General Training scores. Australian migration requirements depend on your visa subclass. Healthcare professional registration in the UAE (DHA, MOH, HAAD) has specific module requirements. Always check the current requirement for your exact pathway before booking.

The test content is the same. The difference is in delivery and results timing. IELTS on computer typically returns results within three to five business days. Paper-based results usually take around 13 days. IELTS on computer also gives you access to One Skill Retake, which is not currently available for paper based tests. Both formats are accepted for the same purposes. The choice is largely about your comfort with the format and how quickly you need your results.

IELTS results are officially recognised as valid for two years from the test date. Most universities employers and immigration authorities require results within this period. Some organizations may accept results beyond two years at their own discretion but this is not standard. If your results are close to expiring and you have not yet submitted an application, check directly with the institution or authority that requires your score before assuming it will be accepted.

IELTS is a format-specific test. Strong general English does not automatically translate into a high band score, because each section has specific question types, timing constraints and marking criteria. Many fluent English speakers lose marks on Writing because they are unfamiliar with task requirements, or on Reading because they misread question types such as True/False/Not Given. Preparation helps you understand exactly what the test rewards and avoid losing marks on avoidable mistakes.

The IELTS tests have a nine band scale ranging from 0 to 9 (with half-band scores like 6.5 and 7.5). There is an individual band score for each of the four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The average of the four is rounded to the nearest half band to get a total band score. For example, if you score 7.0, 6.5, 6.0 and 6.5, your overall band is 6.5. Please ensure that you meet both criteria for your pathway – some institutions have minimum overall band and minimum scores in individual sections.

Yes. Both test types are available through IDP and British Council test centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates. You register for the type that matches your purpose. If you are unsure which to take, the deciding factor is the requirement of the institution, employer or immigration authority you are applying to — not personal preference. Some pathways specify which version they accept, so confirm this before booking.

JAK Global Education offers live online IELTS preparation for both Academic and General Training. Jahanzaib Ahmed Kamil personally teaches IELTS, working with students on their specific target band — whether that is 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 or above. Preparation includes structured sessions across all four modules, mock tests, and individual feedback on Writing and Speaking submissions. Jahanzaib reviews your actual responses and tells you specifically what to work on, rather than giving general guidance.

Yes. JAK Global Education provides fully live online IELTS preparation. Classes are not pre recorded. You attend live sessions with Jahanzaib submit Writing tasks for individual feedback, and practice Speaking with direct trainer response. The online format covers the same preparation as in person coaching including mock tests and module specific practice for both IELTS Academic and General Training.

Writing and Speaking feedback is individual Jahanzaib reads or listens to your actual response and comments specifically on your answer. For Writing, feedback covers task achievement, how well your response is organized, vocabulary use, and grammatical accuracy. For Speaking, it covers fluency coherence, vocabulary range, and pronunciation. Mock test results are also reviewed to identify patterns and guide where to focus before the exam.

There is no official limit on how many times you can take IELTS. You can register for another test as soon as you are ready. However each attempt carries the full exam fee. If you took IELTS on computer and narrowly missed your target in one section IELTS One Skill Retake may allow you to reset just that section within 60 days, rather than repeating the full test.
